unbridled women adventure race

8 hours of Unbridled Adventure await you at the 2020 Unbridled Women Adventure Race at Carter Caves State Resort Park!  We've made a number of modifications to the race format and logistics in order to mitigate the risk of transmission of COVID-19.  Chief among these are a limited field of 45 racers, registration open to soloists and teams of 2 or 3, and modification of the paddle leg.  Instead of canoeing, racers will be paddleboarding, in addition to trekking, caving, mountain biking, and navigating in the great outdoors at one of Kentucky's most scenic state parks.  Click here to review our complete COVID-19 protocol.  The course will still feature a flexible format to ensure every racer pushes her limits to collect as many points as possible within the time allowed. We will be organizing and promoting skills clinics, training weekends, and other events to help you find teammates and to gain all the fitness and confidence you need to be a successful finisher.

Carter Caves is one of the most unique properties in the Kentucky State Parks system, thanks to its spectacular geology, which includes not only caves, but sheer clifflines, soaring arches and natural bridges, too!  Even if you've been to Carter Caves before, we guarantee you'll see it in a whole new way.  And if you've never been, you'll be blown away by all there is to see and do here. Bring your family to cheer you across the finish line, and they can enjoy their own cave tour, gem mining, or other activity at the park.

Carter Caves has a limited number of lodge rooms and cottages blocked out for the race. Call the park directly and reference Group #3298. Phone 606-286-4411. Click here for the park website.

USARA Regional Qualifier

The Unbridled Women AR is a Regional Qualifier for the 2021 USARA National Championship.  The top four teams will receive an invitation to compete at Nationals in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest of Cable, Wisconson.  The top team will receive a $400 scholarship toward their entry.  The next three teams will receive a $300 scholarship toward their entry from the Women of AR Campaign.

Congratulations to Team Chickpoints for pressing hard through the finish!  Despite a 5-point penalty for coming in late, they maintained their hold on 1st place in the 3-woman division to clinch the title and the $400 scholarship.  First in the 2-woman division and first overall went to the mother-daughter team of Deep Trouble, Kristy and Madeline Deep.  First soloist and second overall was Hutch, Tiffany Hutchens.  This was a strong group of determined women who tackled a tough course in crazy weather that varied from overcast to light drizzle to driving rain.  But they were all smiles under the rainbow that graced the Finish Line.  See all the results here.
